Doppler phases: Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl and Gamma Doppler
Doppler phases: Doppler is a knife finish that arrived with the Chroma Case. It comes in seven versions, called phases: Phase 1 to 4, Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl. The Steam Market sells all of them under one name.
The phases, one by one
In the game files, each phase is a separate paint: Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl, then Phase 1 to 4. Valve groups them under a single name family, so a “★ Karambit | Doppler (Factory New)” can be any of the seven.
The official description is one line long: painted with black and silver metallic paints using a marbleizing medium, then candy coated. It says nothing about each phase’s colours. To know which one you’re buying, check the listing.
Gamma Doppler and Emerald
Gamma Doppler is a separate finish with its own phases: Phase 1 to 4 and Emerald. It exists on knives and on one pistol, the Glock-18 | Gamma Doppler.
What the phase does to the price
Two Dopplers with the same name don’t sell for the same price. On marketplaces that publish the phase, a Ruby, a Sapphire or a Black Pearl can be listed at several times the price of a Phase 1 to 4 of the same knife.
Since Steam has one name for every phase, a Doppler’s “from” price is the cheapest phase on sale. On a Doppler’s item page, we name the phase behind that price whenever the marketplace gives it.
